Heard of Christian Wolmar and maybe listen to his podcasts ? Heard of Leo Murray and his work at Possible ? Well that’s good as they are our joint speakers at our last meeting of the year on Wednesday 10 December.
They will be sharing their experiences of campaigning and getting the outcomes they wanted over many years by analysing, persuading and influencing. And, with the local elections coming up in May 2026, we know that we will need to be doing all that to keep local politicians focused on the things which matter to us which, of course, include active travel aka using a bike to get about safely. We want Vision Zero to be achieved in Islington. We want hideous junctions like Finsbury Park to be made safer. We want ‘Clerkenwell Boulevard’ to be safe cycling, not a dice with death. We want the car parks in the cycle route on Market Road to be removed. We want joined up cycle routes. And of course we want Liveable Neighbourhoods and School streets to be built all over the borough.
Aspiring councillors want our votes. So let’s make sure they know what we want in return.
